AWC Winners - 2002 !

Several members of W.C.C.W. entered contests in the 2002 Arkansas Writers' Conference, and the AWC took notice!  W.C.C.W. received 18 awards out of approximately 40 entries.  Winners were:
 
Dorothy Hatfield - 3-1st Honorable Mention and 1-2nd Place Award
Christine Henderson - 1-1st H.M., 1-2nd H.M., 1-3rd H.M., and 1-3rd Place Award
Georgie McIrvin - 1-1st HM, 1-2ndHM, 1-3rd HM, 1-3rd Place and 1-2nd Place Award
David Roper - 1-2nd Place Award
Warren Watkins - 2-2nd H.M. and 2-3rd Place Awards
Congratulations to all ! ! !

Georgie McIrvin, Shannon Vannater, David Roper, Linda Lowe, Dot Hatfield, and Chris Henderson took home awards from the W.C.C.W.Writers' Conference.  Check the 2002 Winners page to see all the winning names.

MORE WINNERS ! !
Dorothy Hatfield  has won several Honorable Mention awards from ByLine Magazine in the past year.  Dot also won Third Place for a Short Story in the 2002 Grandmother Earth Contest.
 
Chris Henderson  received an Honorable Mention from Byline for a winter poem.  Chris also received an Honorable Mention from the Saline County Branch of the Poets' Roundtable of Arkansas for a rhymed poem, and an Honorable Mention in the Environmental Prose category of the 2002 Grandmother Earth Contest.
 
Linda Lowe received an Honorable Mention at the Poets' Roundtable of Arkansas Poetry Day Celebration.

Dorothy Hatfield has an article in the June issue of Mature Living.   Dot's on fire recently!
 
Searcy Living Magazine recently contained an article by Chris Henderson on Animal Abuse and the Humane Society.  Watch this publication toward the end of the summer for another article by Chris on a lighter look at housework.
 
Warren Watkins - well, what can you say about Warren?  He is enjoying his success in his recent position as editor of the Sherwood Voice.
 
Several members had essays with accompanying artwork chosen for the Fall 2002 Searcy Arts Council newsletter, and those pieces along with several others were on display in the Black House in January and February.
